Mason Wyler
Posted in New Releases on September 3rd, 2010 by peterkpThere’s been a fair amount of press recently about Mason Wyler’s recent diagnosis. Â He’s announced that he tested positive for HIV (after he was outed by others, so unfortunately, the timing of his announcement was not something he was able to control.) Â We’re planning a terrific feature on Mason in coming days - We just know you’ll LOVE some of the pictures and video we’re assembling…… But before any more time passes and any more mud gets slung, I wanted to take a minute to let you know how I personally feel about this news and also about what’s being said about Mason in the press and online.
As far as I’m concerned, anyone who has anything to say about this except “How can I help?” should shut the fuck up! Â No one deserves HIV. Â It’s a disease, not a punishment for bad behavior. Blaming someone for their illness isn’t just inappropriate, it’s shamefully wrong and terribly unkind and people who engage in that sort of activity are bigots and self-loathing homophobes and I have no time for them.
Speak out against this! If you read something about Mason’s diagnosis that’s unkind, post an angry comment! Don’t let simple-minded people control the discussion any longer. Help Mason by taking a stand and sticking up for him, defending his privacy and his honor and sending him your care and your love and your best wishes for a long, happy, symptom-free life. Â Then call your congressperson and demand federal dollars for HIV/AIDS Research! Â Donate to Project AIDS in your city. Volunteer at an HIV Hotline or serve meals to homebound AIDS patients or DO SOMETHING to HELP. Â That’s what good people do - They offer their time and their resources to help other people. Â Be a good person. Â Mason is a good person. Â Actually, he’s one of the best!
We love you Mason, and we wish you well, buddy. Take care and let us know how we can help….
